    Shell Energy Integration & Fundamentals (SEIF) is looking for a Senior LNG Analyst to join the Fundamental Analysis team, whose mandate is to provide Shell Energy’s trading teams with best-in-class global gas market analysis and forecasts. The role will both support short-term LNG trading as well as leading the development of longer-term outlooks for relevant markets. The position will be based in Singapore and co-located with Shell's trading teams. The analyst is responsible for developing LNG, natural gas and power views for select Asian countries with a primary focus on Japan.

    What is the role

    This role is responsible for bringing supply, demand, infrastructure and policy views together, modeling key drivers to develop market forecasts across all time horizons with a particular focus on the Japanese market. The emphasis is on developing both qualitative and quantitative capabilities, supported as appropriate by network and models/tools. Using technology to build scalability will be essential to success.

As well, the role will inform long-term decisions to develop a resilient long-term portfolio. Therefore, building credibility with trading and strategy colleagues will be key to translate analytical insights into commercial and strategic gains.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will be working closely on a daily basis with traders, helping them understand key fundamental drivers, testing scenarios and will be an integral part of their extended team. The timeliness of analysis will be a critical differentiator.
    - Provide analysis of LNG/gas and power markets with an emphasis on Japan by developing and maintaining forecast models. Shell Energy’s local trading teams within the coverage countries will also be key stakeholders and collaboration partners.
    - Identify and help develop quantitative and qualitative tools and models to enhance the quality and accuracy of forecasts.
    - SEIF’s Fundamentals Analysis team has a dedicated digitalisation team supporting the improvement and automation of existing models, developing new models and visualising data and forecasts for key stakeholders through UI/UX platforms. One of the critical responsibilities for the successful candidate will be to help guide, steer and work in close collaboration with SEIF Fundamentals Analysis' digitalisation team.
    - Support the team’s global view of LNG and gas markets across time horizons that is used to support strategic projects across the company.Development of an internal and external network of contacts to keep the organisation abreast on perspectives coming from outside of Shell while also capturing intelligence and synergies within the organisation.

Requirements

    1. A degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Econometrics, Business, or Finance.
    2. 5+ years' experience in LNG/gas market analysis and modeling across short, mid or long-term horizons. Trading experience and exposure to power markets is advantageous.
    3. Qualification in Modeling and Simulation Systems/Computational Modeling/Complex Systems Modeling.
    4. Experience covering Asia gas, LNG and/or power markets

    Skills and Competencies:
    1. Must be able to develop fundamental views based on quantitative analysis that will be translated into profitable investments and trades.
    2. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build relations at multiple levels and across organisations.
    3. Good persuasive communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
    4. Strong ability to filter through data and information to develop commercially actionable intelligence.
    5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Visual basic.
    6. Experience in building fundamental supply/demand models, particularly for gas and power (e.g., Plexos/Aurora.).
